Level 5 & 6 Primary School Specialism and Subject Leadership in PE & School Sport
This qualification is an effective use of the physical education and school sport premium funding; by up-skilling primary school teachers, it will ensure a sustainable legacy which will impact on children and young people.
Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism:
This is a nationally recognised qualification that aims to up skill primary school teachers and higher level teaching assistants to improve the overall delivery of the Physical Education curriculum within primary schools. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to assist in raising the standards within primary school Physical Education teaching. Content for this aspect of the course includes:
- National Curriculum and expectations in PE
- Good to outstanding teaching in PE
- Developing an engaging curriculum
- Assessment for learning and pupil progression
- Planning and programming units of work
- Health and safety in PE
Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership:
This is a recognised qualification to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools and can only be accessed by qualified teachers. The aim of this qualification is to up skill primary school teachers to enable them to lead on the delivery of the primary school physical education curriculum. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to take subject leadership within primary school physical education teaching and deliver high quality primary school physical education. Level 5 must be completed prior to starting Level 6. Dates for the Level 6 part of the qualification will be determined towards the close of the Level 5 (Likely to be Summer/Autumn Term 2022).

Session 1 - Friday 14th January
Session 2 - Friday 11th February
Session 3 - Thursday 10th March
Session 4 - Wednesday 6th April
Session 5 - Friday 13th May
The course will take place face-to-face, initially at the Bilton Health & Wellbeing Hub in Harrogate.
