The Arts University Bournemouth, in conjunction with Active Dorset CSP have successfully applied for funding to expand and develop the 'Give it A Go' physical activity project in 2016-17.
A launch was carried out on campus in September 2015 where over 400 students signed up to the scheme (approximately 15% of the student population). This showed the demand for sport and physical activity and this new funding will allow for a wider range of inspiring activities to be offered to AUB students in the 2016-17 academic year.
"I'm delighted to announce that AUB and Active Dorset have been successful in applying for over £43,000 of Sportivate innovation funding from Sport England" said Active Dorset's Youth Participation Manager, Gary Head. "I'd like to thank Karina Young from the Student Union at AUB for all her support and enthusiasm for the project and I have no doubt that 'Give it A Go' will grow and become one of the most successful Sportivate projects we've had in six years of the Sportivate programme in Dorset".
Sportivate is a £56 million National Lottery funded London 2012 legacy project that gives young people the chance to discover sport. Sportivate aims to give 11-25 year olds who do not regularly participate in sport the chance to take part in free or subsidised sessions.
