British rowing star Annie Vernon is set to provide inspiration to youngsters at the Dorset School Games in June.
The School Games is an exciting, fully inclusive competition for school children in England.
They are designed to motivate, enthusing and inspiring young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport.
Rowing sensation Annie, who is a two time World Champion and two times Olympian, began her glittering career when she first joined the GB rowing talent scheme World Class Start. Annie will be visiting the Dorset School Games on the 29th of June.
Annie will be attending the event in her capacity as a Sport England Sporting Champion and is excited about interacting with the young people at the event.
"Having represented Britain at major events like the Olympics, I feel it is really important for me to give something back to sport because it has given me so much. Sport has given me some amazing memories and experiences that I can't wait to share. That is why I love being a Sport England Sporting Champion and working with young people.
"I am looking forward to doing just that at the upcoming Dorset School Games. I am excited to meet all the young participants in attendance and my aim is to raise their own aspirations of what they can achieve. I know that it will be a fantastic day so I cannot wait for the action to get underway in Dorset."
At a local level the School Games are delivered by schools, School Games organisers, clubs, County Sports Partnerships and other local partners.
Local organising committees, chaired by head teachers and actively supported by county sports partnerships and London Youth Games, oversee the county festivals. Every school in England has been given the opportunity to get involved, potentially giving every school child the chance to take part.
There are nearly 17,000 schools involved through the School Games website and there will be around 80 level 3 School Games festivals due to take place in this academic year.
