Volunteering/ Social Action Fayre National Citizenship Scheme (NCS – BCHA)
Posted: Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:48
When: Friday 8th July and Friday 12th August
Time: 10 am - 12.30 pm
Venue: Citygate Church, 138 Holdenhurst Rd, Bournemouth BH8 8BQ
Background:
The NCS scheme is a voluntary youth engagement and personal development programme for 15 - 17-year-olds throughout England.
This summer we have over 350 young people from across Dorset completing the scheme with BCHA in 2 separate batches & we are looking for more Social Action Projects that groups of 15 young people can undertake together over the course of a week (set dates) e.g. painting a com-munity centre, designing and revamping a community garden, conservation, fundraising etc.
It would also be great if we could introduce young people to the range of volunteering opportuni-ties that are available to them within their local area that they can pursue after they finish on the NCS scheme.
"Last year, over 220 young people participated and they completed over 6600 volunteering hours in the local Community raising over £7000 through fundraising on their Social Action Projects. The Social Action Project element of the NCS Programme allows Young People to feel connected and proud of making positive differences in the local Communities."
To Book:
If you have a Social Action Project that you think may be suitable and you would like to 'pitch' it to the young people at either (or both of the events) then please get in touch!
We would also like to hear from you, if you have voluntary opportunities that are suitable for young people aged 16 plus, that you would like to promote at either of the events.
To book your place, please complete and return the booking form to
