Calling Tennis Players of All Abilities

The Bournemouth & Christchurch Local Tennis League is a competition for anyone aged 18 and over, designed to make it easy for them to play friendly, competitive tennis matches without the need to join a club. If you have been meaning to get back into tennis, want to set yourself a challenge or would like to meet new people to play, why not give it a go!

Run by Local Tennis Leagues Ltd, with the support of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Christchurch Borough Council, the league grades players into groups of six to eight people, to make sure people playing each other are of similar abilities. Players are put in contact with each other to arrange mutually convenient times to play.

Sally Kinnes, co-founder of Local Tennis Leagues, said: "We are delighted to be running a league across Bournemouth and Christchurch as the Bournemouth & Christchurch Tennis League.

"Public courts often have events for children, but adults should not be forgotten. Tennis is one of the healthiest sports you can play and the league is a great opportunity to keep fit and make new tennis friends. Our players enjoy the flexibility of playing matches when it suits but also having a close match when they do play."

Entry to the league costs £15 per round and each player has between five to seven matches to play. Players can use any court that suits them both and submit their results online for others to see.

The next round of the league will start on July 21^st. There are currently 90 leagues nationally and more than 5,000 people have played in a local tennis league in the last 18 months. The winner of each group wins a certificate and tennis prizes.
