Posted: Tue, 18 Oct 2016 12:03
The theme for this year's conference was Active Lives = Active Minds; How PE, school sports and physical activity contribute to academic and emotional well-being. The conference provided an opportunity to look at the recent changes in education and the focus on mental health and well-being of our pupils.
Rebecca Clark, Regional Schools Commissioner for South-West England, opened the conference with a keynote presentation on 'Shared Strength and Responsibility', focusing on how PE can have a real impact on the emotional well-being of pupils and whole school culture.
The full and varied programme with strands for Headteachers, Governors, Secondary Heads of PE and Primary PE Co-ordinators, offered an informative and thought provoking day.
The conference was very well attended with over 200 delegates and 25 exhibitors, including National Governing Bodies of sport and local businesses looking to grow their involvement in school sport offerings.
