Girls' golf will be rocking again in Dorset when the successful campaign to inspire new young players returns next month.
Girls Golf Rocks is all about attracting beginners to have fun, learn a new sport, get active and play alongside friends.
Free girls' taster sessions will be on offer at six centres across Dorset, followed by group coaching courses with PGA professionals, all supported by young ambassadors from the county squads.
This year's taster sessions will take place at:
- Bulbury Woods Golf Club on Saturday 18 March
- The Wessex Golf Centre on Saturday 18 March
- Sturminster Marshall Golf Club on Friday 24 March
- Came Down Golf Club on Saturday 25 March
- Parkstone Golf Club on Saturday 25 March
- Broadstone Golf Club on Saturday 8 April

Following the tasters, the six clubs will each offer a five-week coaching course with PGA professionals, when the ambassadors will be on hand again to encourage the newcomers. All the girls completing the coaching courses will be given a US Kids Golf 7-iron to help them start playing.
Girls Golf Rocks is a national campaign, run jointly by England Golf and the Golf Foundation, and it aims to increase the number of girl golfers from an average of just two full members per club.
It was a big success when it ran in Dorset for the first time last year; 45 girls attended the tasters, over 30 took coaching and 21 joined clubs as academy or full members.
Dorset Girls' Captain Becky Dodd will be back as an ambassador for the second year and is looking forward to the sessions. The 17-year-old from Sturminster Marshall Golf Club, said: "Taking part last year was incredible fun and a rewarding experience, seeing the new young girls starting out where I was 10 years ago. It is amazing to be able to give back something to the sport and help to inspire the new generation of young girl golfers.
"Girls Golf Rocks is a brilliant idea that allows young girls to try something new, and be part of a team whilst playing a game to the best of their individual ability. It is a great opportunity and definitely worth taking part in."
Kay Everett, Dorset's County Junior Organiser, added: "We are all looking forward to the second year of Girls Golf Rocks and we have managed to set up sessions in the west of the county as well as at established centres in the east that we used last year.
"We have several new ambassadors to join the ones who did such a good job last year, and we have found that these girls have continued to help the pros in their continued training of their new protégées.
"The word is spreading and we are hopeful of introducing more girls into this game that we all love."
Girls Golf Rocks started in 2015 with a trial in Essex. Ambassadors and new players from the county are now featured in a Girls Golf Rocks video, which captures all that's special about the programme. Bella Jay, 14, sums it up when she says: "Golf has done so much for me, I love it. You should come and join us and see how much fun it is." Click hereto view the video.
