Pro Active Community Project encourages young people to get active

Free sessions of football, handball, rugby, taekwondo & yBall have been taking place in Alderney, Turlin Moor & West Howe. All the activity sessions are delivered by local clubs; AFC Bournemouth Community, Diamond National Soccer Schools, Poole Phoenix Handball, Rippa Rugby, Wessex Taekwondo Association & yBall Sports Club. A total of 30 sessions will be delivered across the week, in three areas, giving many young people the chance to participate in sports and activities free of charge.

Gaby Rowsell, Assistant community Projects Officer at Active Dorset commented; "We have built up so many partners in the short time I have been working here and everyone is so excited to see activities running daily for the local people. All of the coaches are enjoying meeting residents and spotting some hidden talent."

The daily sessions, funded by Active Dorset, are completely free to take part in, and no booking is required. The aim of the project is to encourage young people to participate in an activity that they enjoy or perhaps have not tried before, and to build a community of participants who want to continue taking part in sport and physical activity after the half term programme.
