SportsAid Week 23rd-29th September 2019

SportsAid Week is returning for the fourth year and is a week of fun and fundraising open to everyone, with plenty of opportunities to get involved.

The money raised goes towards supporting the most promising young British athletes - typically aged 12 to 18 years old - and allows them to be recognised by the public, support them with training and competition costs, and provide them with personal development opportunities they otherwise wouldn't get.

There are two challenges that everyone can get involved in this September:

1. The #MyMiles Challenge

2. The #MyMiles Schools Challenge

The #MyMiles Challenge asks supporters to keep the athletes' company as they train and compete, by undertaking physical activity and logging the distance that they cover. On average a SportsAid athlete covers around 40 miles every week, and for individuals or teams who take up the challenge, every 20 minutes of activity is the equivalent to one mile. You can find out more by clicking on the links above!

There are several ways you can make SportsAid Week and the #MyMiles Challenge work for you….

  • Raising awareness of SportsAid Week and the challenges they can do, to schools, clubs, community organisations and groups local to them
  • Use the #MyMiles Schools Challenge to inspire pupils with the stories of local young athletes who can be role models, and encourage them to be more active – this could be the perfect way to kick off the new school year!
  • Run an assembly to talk about SportsAid Week, and plan with children additional activity that they can do during the week. SportsAid are planning a number of surprise athlete visits so get in touch with them!
  • Link to existing School Games competitions that are taking place that week, physical activities in Satellite Clubs, colleges and universities, or create new activities and challenges for participants
  • Join the #MyMiles Challenge and post photos and videos of your own physical activity through social media
