Children's activity levels are on the rise, according to statistics in the second, annual Active Lives Children and Young People Survey.
The latest national report which was published in December 2019, shows an increase of 3.6% in the number of children in England doing an average of 60 minutes or more of physical activity a day. It reveals that 46.8% of the nation's children and young people are meeting the recommended level, with the increase driven by more 'out of school' activity – i.e. through active play, team sports and walking.
In Dorset, our figures are slightly higher than the national picture at 51%. However, that still means that 49% of the children and young people in Dorset are not as active as we would wish.
